***Rules, Instructions, & Qualifications are currently under revision. Stay tuned for an exciting new format! - Langston E. Boudreaux***
Detailed Information
Rules
- Acting talent are:
- tasked with portraying a fictitious principal character, in a fictitious role, which is created solely for the purpose of the Secure The Role! Acting Contest.
- provided with a script, and are challenged with bringing that scene to life.
- being judged on their script familiarity, non-verbal communications, emotional transitions, naturalness, character portrayal, and visuals……all-in-all, they will be judged on their overall acting abilities.
- allowed to utilize relevant and appropriate props, as they deem it necessary, to complement their skills and authenticate their scene.
- props may make your scene visually appealing, but it’s the acting skills that are weighed much heavier, and it’s the acting skills that will win the competition.
- props might include a cell phone, the area outside of a bedroom door, your office desk, your vehicle, your kitchen table, or could be as simple as four chairs arranged in your living room aimed at mimicking a vehicle; be as creative with your props as you deem necessary.
- Whoever's scene the best, will place the highest …. and will win the contest!
Taping Instructions
- 1 Take …. No cuts please! Gotta make it ‘challenging’, right??? 😊
- Video submissions should not exceed 10 minutes. Considering how I write the scripts, most won't come close to 10 minutes.
- Scene recordings should be completed while considering the script’s Scene Heading and Action sections, and also explore creative ways to utilize readily available props and personal equipment.
- Please, no professional studios or taping facilities necessary. Nor is there a need to spend an exorbitant price to compete in the Secure The Role! Acting Contest. Let’s have fun being our creative selves!
- Acting Talent that is portraying the principal character must be off-book.
- Please have a reader for all other non-principal character dialogue (whether it’s yourself via prerecording or someone else helping you).
- Landscape/horizontal video recording only.
- Please assure that sound and lighting are of good quality.
- Please follow your city/state’s health and safety protocols, as well as your own personal health, safety, law abiding, and awareness measures, when completing your recorded submission.
- (Slate info) When submitting your video, please include the following: 1.) your acting name and 2.) your social media handle. If your submission makes the top 10, and viewers are interested in following you on social media or they want more information, they can contact you directly and you can decide whether to pursue further communication.
Process Notes (***Very Important)
- After reviewing all submissions for the respective acting contest episode, 1 - 10 finalists will be selected to move on.
- To highlight acting talent’s skills and abilities, the 1 - 10 finalists’ submissions will be compiled into a Secure The Role! episode video, and uploaded to the Secure The Role! YouTube channel or webpage for viewing and fan voting.
- By submitting your video to the Secure The Role! Acting Contest, you agree to your video being uploaded to the Secure The Role! YouTube channel & webpage, and Instagram page for viewing and fan voting (only if your video makes the Finalist List).
***Please do not submit your video if you do not want your video on the Secure The Role! YouTube channel, webpage, or Instagram page. Your choice is totally respected!***
- Only the qualifying finalists' video submissions will be included in the Secure The Role! Acting Contest YouTube video for each episode. All other submissions from Acting Talent will be discarded immediately.
- Secure The Role! Acting Contest has absolutely no desire, and never will have the desire, to embarrass anyone by including their submission video in ‘Funny’ or ‘Epic Fail’ compilations. That is not the aim for creating this acting contest.
- In a future episode, there may be an opportunity for fans to vote for their favorite video submission (among the Finalist List).
- 1st place winner of each episode will have the option to participate in a ‘Get To Know Your Winner’ Q & A video, which will also be uploaded to the Secure The Role! YouTube channel. This allows interested industry peers and professionals an opportunity to get to know you.
Cash Prize Info
- Once deadline has passed, placements will be revealed, with 1st place winning cash prize (one-time payout). There may be additional cash prizes, per episode, as this contest grows.
- It is the winner’s responsibility to satisfy contractual monetary obligations, and distribute the appropriate monetary portions of their cash prize to agents, managers, etc.
- At the moment, and for the foreseeable future, cash prizes will be funded solely by the Secure The Role! creator. It is my hope that this acting contest can continue to grow in both the scope of the challenges, as well as grow in terms of prizes offered to Acting Talent.
- More important than the cash prizes, I believe, is the potential value that acting talent can gain by having their exceptional acting talent viewed by thousands of people online …. or, viewed by the right one influential film/tv industry professional!
- Cash prizes will be transferred via CashApp, MoneyGram, or any method that limits the amount of personal info that needs to be share between winner and Secure The Role!.
Script Details
- Scripts/storylines are written by your Secure The Role! creator……an amateur at best. They’re not perfect, but I promise to try and get better! 😊
- Scripts/storylines are fictional, and are created solely and purposely for the Secure The Role! Acting Contest.
- Scripts/storylines are created solely for the Secure The Role! Acting Contest, and for entertainment purposes only.

This provides interested industry peers and professionals a way to contact you if they like your video. It will also be used during the Fan Vote process, which will be included in future episodes.
- CashApp Handle: this info will only need to be provided by the winner(s) of the respective episode.
- Real Name: this info will only need to be provided by the winner(s) if they choose to receive their cash prize via MoneyGram. If this option of payment is chosen, the winner will also need to provide proper identification at the MoneyGram location of their choice in order to receive cash.
